This image is teh sum of 630 60 secs unguided subs taken during the nights of 17th and 18th of June 2021 with an Orion USA 250 F 3.9 Newton, a QHY183 mono camera, an Ioptron CEM60EC, an Astronomik 12nm ha filter + 720 20 secs unguided subs taken on the 5th of July of 2019 with same setup, but filter was an UHC filter instead of HA.

Aquistion, stacking and some processing (star reduction) with Astroart - remaining part of the process (curves, levels) with PS.

The sum has been done stacking together all ther frames, HA and UHC. I know this is not standard procedure, but I wanted to see the result. Color will come soon.

NGC 6946, sometimes referred to as the Fireworks Galaxy, is a face-on intermediate spiral galaxy with a small bright nucleus, whose location in the sky straddles the boundary between the northern constellations of Cepheus and Cygnus. Its distance from Earth is about 25.2 million light-years or 7.72 megaparsecs, similar to the distance of M101 (NGC 5457) in the constellation Ursa Major. Both were once considered to be part of the Local Group, but are now known to be among the dozen bright spiral galaxies near the Milky Way but beyond the confines of the Local Group. Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
