Description

Beverly Lynd's Catalog of Bright Nebula identifies LBN 406 as a faint molecular cloud in the Constellation Draco. On her brightness scale of 1-6 she lists this one as "barely detectable". LBN 406 is actually the brighter central parts of this image and is also known as The Laughing Skull Nebula. To me, the larger field resembles a Dragon soaring down and to the left in the image. Of note is a small galaxy near the bottom center of the image that looks remarkably like a tiny Saturn. It is identified as UGC 10548 and is a magnitude 15 spiral galaxy some 475 million light years from Earth.
