Description

800 Years in the Making - The Great Conjunction of 2020

What an experience! Two fantastic astronomical events in 2020...Neowise and the Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn. Both events are something I will never forget. I was blessed with the opportunity to help others get to see it on Sunday night through my refractor, and then to image it on Monday night from the observatory at the Astronomy Club of Tulsa.

To get this shot, I imaged the planets without a barlow using my typical imaging camera to fit everything in the field of view. Then I used a 2x barlow and my ASI224mc camera to get a better resolution shot of each Jupiter and Saturn. I also got a file with a higher gain to get Jupiter's bright moons and also Saturn's Titan and Rhea. This gave me several SER videos to stack in AutoStakkert and I used wavelets with Registax 6. I used the large image with both planets as the background in Photoshop, and then placed the slightly better resolution images of each planet on top of the background image.
