Description

The Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex is a nearby (~ 130 pc) star-forming region in Ophiuchus/Scorpius just south of the star ρ Ophiuchi and just north of Antares. It's a lovely, colorful area of the sky, with reflection nebulae illuminated by the bluer ρ Ophiuchi and the redder Antares as well as extensive dust lanes and emission nebulae. Near Antares on the sky (but much more distant) are two globular clusters, M4 at 2.2 kpc and NGC 6144, a much looser and dimmer cluster 8.5 kpc away.

Scorpius is relatively low in the sky for me (~ 23 degrees at meridian passage), and there's a noticeable background light gradient to remove in processing. Some of the residual color in darker areas (esp. north of ρ Ophiuchi) may not be quite right.

Edit: Managed to neutralize the background color gradient with Siril.
