Description

951 Gaspra is an irregular shaped, spinning asteroid. I thought, these are good prerequisites to do a successful photometry.
Some of the characteristics of the asteroid.
Dimensions : 18 km x 11 km x 9 km
Rotation period : 7 hours
Orbital period : 3.3 years
Actual distance from Earth : 174 Million km
Actual velocity : 22 km/sec
Brightness : 13.85 Mag (measured by me)
Brightness change during 90 minutes : 0.2 Mag (measured by me)

Gaspra was the first asteroid ever to be closely approached when it was visited by the Galileo spacecraft, which flew by on its way to Jupiter on 29 October 1991. Gaspra was the first asteroid to be photographed up close. (Wikipedia)
