Description

NGC 4565 is an edge-on spiral galaxy about 40 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices. As spiral galaxies go, NGC 4565 is a whopper — about a third larger than the Milky Way. I took this from my rooftop in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, May 6, 7, 9 2023----Just after the full moon on May 5th! I was pleasantly surprised to get this image with only 840mm fl. Sure there were gradients to deal with, and this is a about a 50% crop of the final image. But I'm still amazed at what can be done by us amateurs.
