Description

NGC188 is one of the oldest open clusters in our galaxy and one of the few deep sky objects near Ursa Minor. Being far from the centre and the galactic plane, the gravitational influence of the Milky Way does not tend to scatter the more than one hundred stars that compose it. It is estimated to be more than 6 billion years old. It is less than 5 degrees from the pole star and is visible in all seasons from the northern hemisphere.
