Autumn Equinox from 66N

Description

Moment of equinox on 22 September 12:31 pm local time.

As a few ask I been quite busy at work for a time then go on 35 day sailing trip up east coast of Greenland then over to Jan Mayen Island before back to Ísland.

My two sisters and I sail Swan 38. Quite fun adventure. Saw much sea life, birds, icebergs, a submarine, a Russian warship and on sad side much plastic and other refuse. Happy to be back with astrofriends now and hopefully some images soon.

The equinox may be taken to mark the end of astronomical summer and the beginning of astronomical autumn (autumnal equinox) in the Northern Hemisphere, while marking the end of astronomical winter and the start of astronomical spring (vernal equinox) in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Autumnal and Spring equinoxes mark the point in the calendar at which the length of night and the length of day are almost exactly equal.
