Description

Here is Alpha Centauri which is a binary system or possibly a trinary system if Proxima Centauri (which may also be in the FoV of this image) is gravitationally bound to it. It is our cosmic neighbor, being the system with the closest sun-like stars to our own. This is from the Telescope Live AUS-2-CMOS setup at Heaven's Mirror in Yass NSW, Australia and was taken on the nights of September 13th and September 17th of 2023. If you look around the image you will see clusters and asterisms along with darker lanes in the plane of the Milky Way. Even with 60 second exposures this is so bright it almost overwhelms the camera.
