Description

Took a bit of a risk and decided to image M27 for 5 nights, all during the full or almost-full moon. Yep, terrible idea especially since my backyard is in a Bortle 9 zone. It turned out OK thanks to the 22 hours of integration time but the core was very blown out and it was such a pain to process. I believe the main mistakes I made was:

- Imaging it on a full moon (Duh)

- Imaging with the Oiii filter when the moon was completely full Took a bit of a risk and decided to image M27 for 5 nights, all during the full or almost-full moon. Yep, terrible idea especially since my backyard is in a Bortle 9 zone. It turned out OK thanks to the 22 hours of integration time but the core was very blown out and it was such a pain to process. I believe the main mistakes I made was:

- Imaging with the Oiii filter when the moon was completely full [The Oiii filter is the narrowband filter that blocks the least amount of light pollution so it’s much better to use it when the moon is not up)

- Doing 5 minute exposures. The combination of Bortle 9 + Moon probably had a terrible impact on this and I should have done maybe 3 minute exposures instead.
