Description

This globular star cluster is located 80,000 light years away in the constellation of Aquarius at a declination of -16 degrees.  It is a magnitude 10.5 cluster which spans 4 arc-minutes in our apparent view, corresponding to a diameter of 100 light years.

This cluster looks more like an open cluster than a globular cluster, and in fact this sparse cluster has a class 12 (least condensed) rating.

I see a few interesting things in this cluster.  A faint mini dark band weaves horizontally across the center of the cluster, which is likely just an optical coincidence.  Several tiny faint objects are seen through the cluster, which I think are distant galaxies outside of our Milky Way.
