Description

NEBULA M42 & NGC 1977  Hi everyone, here is the first image obtained with the new Optolong L-QEF filter. Broadband filter with more selective characteristics than the L-pro filter. Let me start by saying that I photograph from a fairly polluted sky (Guidonia Montecelio, Rome) and up to now I have always used lpro for broadband shots, obtaining good results regarding the attenuation of light pollution. However, shooting with this new filter I noticed a better contrast rendering without distorting the color rendering of the image too much. I was especially surprised by this subject because it was taken in less than favorable conditions, both in terms of the usual IL present in my location and because M42 in this period and from my latitude did not rise more than 40° in the sky. In fact I started photographing it at 7.40pm when it was at a height of just over 30°. As a first light of this new filter, given by Optolong to test in my area, I was greatly impressed. There will certainly be other tests on galaxies and star clusters too. Technical data of this photograph:  Telescope: Newton Skywatcher 200/800 Main chamber: Omegon vTec 571 C Guide Telescope: Skywatcher 80/400 Concealer/Reducer : Artesky  x0.95 Filter: Optolong L-QEF 2" Camera Guide: Zwo Asi 224 Frame: Eq6 Mod rowan  Light: 42 Duration: 300" Gain: 100 Offset: 300 Light Core: 70  Duration: 10" Dark: 40 Dark Core: 30 Flat :40 Datkflat: 40 Place: Guidonia Montecelio (Rm) Bortle scale: 19.20 Date: January 12, 2024  Shooting software: Sharcap, Apt, ph2 guiding Processing software : Pixinsight, Photoshop

Title: M42 & NGC 1977 revisited

Description: M42 & NGC 1977 revisited

Hi everyone...I looked at the image of M42 again...I saw it as a little dull in colour...in the end I gave:
Saturation
Color temperature
Sharpness
Contrast..
And finally I rotated it... how does it look?

I remember the data:
Newton 200/800 reduced to 760mm
Omegon vTec 571 camera c
Optolong Astronomy Filter L-QEF
42 poses of 300"
72 x 10" poses

Description: I upload here a new version where I was able to merge the hydrogen channel granted by my friend Marco Prelini. The fusion took place in various stages using both pixinsight and photoshop.
