Great images taken with the 16 inch scope. Is it located in Vancouver and  am curious about the field of view.  It must be a fast scope to produce such large FVs?  I live minutes away from the Rothney Observatory. Clear skies.

The scope at Rothney:
A.R Cross Telescope (ARCT)SPECS:
  • Designed and built by UCalgary/PHAS 1982 – 1986
  • Primary mirror: 183 cm,  f/2.7  parabolic optics.
  • Secondary mirror: 36.6 cm, 5Hz Chopping capable with 180 degree selectable chopping plane.
  • Effective focal ratio: f/15.
  • Mounting: Alt-Alt.
  • Configuration: 5-port Cassegrain Bonnette with eyepiece for public viewing.
  • FoV;  12 arcmin (typical eyepiece).

andClark-Milone Telescope (CMT)SPECS:
  • Manufactured by Astronomical Equipment Limited, Luton England, 1971.
  • Primary mirror: 40.5 cm f/5 parabolic optics.
  • Mounting: German Equatorial.
  • Current configuration: Newtonian
  • CCD camera: SBIG STX6303.
  • Filters: Johnson-Cousin, SDSS, and Open.
  • Plate scale; 0.914 arcsec/pixel.
  • FoV;  46.8 x 31.2 arcmin.

Hi Rich.    The RASC Robotic telescope according to the web site, is an 16 inch RCOS f/8.9 reflector with an FL of 3550mm.  the Mount is a Paramount ME with an MKS 4000 controller. The camera is an SBIG STX16803.  There is also a Huetech modifies Canon 6D with a 200mm prime lens piggy backed to the scope.
I believe the RASC Robotic. telescope is located at Sierra Remote.  @Rick Veregin  has much more knowledge than I about all this,  perhaps he can add to the discussion

Link to RASC website.

Hi Scott your details are accurate, it is located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California at the SRO, details of the site itself are here:  Sierra Remote Observatories

Hi Rich, there a more details on the filters used if you look at any of my RASC telescope images, for example see SHO image  So as you can see it is not a fast scope, but it is a good dark site at 22 Mag/Sq Arcsec Darkness which helps a lot.

Rick, Scott,
thank you for this information. I must have looked at images that were taken by the piggy-back scope.
