Has anyone got a good solution for locating the sun with a Celestron C8 AVX EQ mount with solar filter fitted. I have tried quick align and then GOTO SUN (after enabling Sun in the menu) but it still a long out where it should be for locating the sun? 8)

attach a small piece of Mylar securely over the objective end of your finder scope. Easy to locate the sun with the much larger field of view. raymo

Above method certainly works ! When you don't have that piece of mylar, just uncover your finder and hold your hand (or a piece of cardboard) 1 or 2 feet behind it. Make the projected sun image coincide wth the center of the finder's shadow ... (method only working if your finder was well alligned previously!) Don't forget to cover the finder again when you're done ! 8)

Forgot to mention (but it is very obvious) that my method only works with "straight" finders !
