Hello All,

Firstly, sorry if this is not the right forum for this question.

I have been messing with NextStars off and on for 20 years.  Really All I can do is align the thing (if there are objects I am confident I can find in the sky) and take decent images of the moon with an iPhone mount.

I did recently purchase a NexImage 10 and would very much love some help getting control of my Celestron NexStar 8SE  with my mac (has vmware running windows 10).

Is it possible to control the scope with my laptop and view on screen through the NexImage 10?  I hope to get to the point where I can do mainly moon and planetary imaging.  Also have hopes down the line to spot the ISS and NEO.

TIA.

Hi,

You should install ASCOM 6.5 or 6.6 on your Win10 partition. It should be able to recognize the Nexstar and you can therefore control it from any application such as Stellarium or Cartes du Ciel, either through USB or wifi. For the camera I'd suggest you install FireCapture and do your planetary capture from there. You'd need to process these capture files/movies so better ask directions once you're there.
