Description

The Sadr Region also known as IC1318 or the Butterfly Nebula (not to be confused with the other Butterfly Nebula, NGC 6302) is a diffuse emission nebula surrounding the bright star Sadr (γ Cygni), though they are not at the same distance with the nebula sitting at 4900 light years and the star at around 1800. This area contains several dark nebulae as well. The dark cloud that divides IC 1318 B and C is a dark nebula known as LDN 889 and it's what gives this nebula its butterfly wings-like shape.
