Shot this data 3-4 months ago and then got stuck in a rut because I just could not process it to a point where I was happy with the mosaic blending. Once I discovered the "Photometric mosaic" tool in Pixinsight, I noticed a huuuge difference in merge seam blending/quality than compared to my previous method using MosaicByCoordinates + GradientMergeMosaic.
I also spent way too much time trying to bring out the faint background Ha glow which showed up extremely well in the mono starless Ha data, but could still probably be improved in the final image. I don't often see this captured in other photos without the faintest details being crushed into the background or oversaturated to make them come through. I may try to use GHS to bring up the mid-tone brightness of the Ha and revise the final image, but at the moment I'm happy with how it turned out(especially compared to my first attempt at this target last year
)
Once I get my hands on the Antlia OIII filter, I will absolutely shoot a few nights worth of OIII frames and integrate that as well.
