Description

The dark nebula LDN1622, also known as the Boogieman Nebula, in the constellation Orion and on the edge of the much larger H-alpha region known as Barnards loop. This nebula can be seen against a faint background of H-alpha (red regions) that fades away towards the right of the image. Nevertheless, the H-alpha was still bright enough that it was worthwhile dedicating a few clear nights to acquiring some H-alpha. I then proceeded to compile a HaLRGB composite, which displayed much greater detail in the dark dust lanes compared to LRGB alone. If only dark sky time wasn't so precious for me or I'd be spending a lot more than one night acquiring the LRGB data.
A couple of small patches of reflection nebulosity can also be seen such as VDB 62 (top left) and VDB 63 (slightly orange/yellow star right of center).
