Description

Has Comet C/2019 Y4 been breaking apart?

It showed a sharp increase in brightness over the last weeks. Recently, it faded from ~Mag 7 to ~Mag 9. In the www there appeared more and more confirming contributions yesterday, so i put out my photon bucket. From my raw data i would agree.

This image has been processed very similar to that from Monday, but this time i used comet tracking instead of star tracking. Also the moon was brighter and wasnt blocked by the big cedar tree in my garden.

I'll try to perform a proper brightness comparison, but i first have to go into literature. In the final image it doesnt look so bad, even if brightness has been remarkably decreasing the last two days.
