Description

Finally got a full clear night.  I started this image 2 nights ago, but Mother Nature was messing with me, I had clear skies for about 2 hours and then overcast.  However, last night it was clear all night.  This is the first full image with my new 190mm Mak Newt since getting it collimated.  I am pretty happy with how this turned out as the detail and color both look pretty good to me.  Let me know if you agree, LOL!

Leo's Triplet includes galaxies in Messier's catalog (M65 & 66) and NGC 3628 (the faintest of the group which is why it escaped Messier's small scope.  All 3 galaxies are around 35 million light years away.  NGC 3628 is around 300,000 light years long, M65 has a diameter of 80,000 light years and M66 has a diameter of 75,000 light years. Although close to the other 2 galaxies, M65 looks like a normal Sa type galaxy.   M66 is classified as type Sb with deformed spiral arms probably do to close encounters with its neighbors.  NGC 3628 also shows some deformity due to gravitational forces from the other galaxies.

Title: Revised image using PI

Description: I captured this image almost 2 year ago, before I was using PI and was just curious if I could improve on this image for my Astronomy picture book. When I first loaded this, I thought it was one of my better images and it was not a bad image. I was able to pull out some more detail using PI, but my background is not as clean.

Also, I left the wider FOV as I noticed several other little galaxies as I was reprocessing this image.
