Andromeda Galaxy M31

This was an opportunity target for the night as it was high up in the sky and my other target sequence was done. The FOV of the setup brutally cuts M110 at the bottom and the sides as well, but every pixel of the sensor is used (this is not cropped at all). I skipped dithering due to my mount really bad backlash (AZ-GTI), so there are some artifacts, but not cropping and more usable exposures are worth it imho.

I did a run of multiple exposures (30,60,90,120,180 sec) in an attempt to not saturate the core as much while retaining details of dust lanes. This didn't quite work as expected and overall I like the longest exposures stack more vs HDR.

Posting here both results for comparison. First image is a stack of 20x120sec and second "B" is HDR

After posting here I realized that I forgot to use bias frames for this camera and you can kinda see it in the corners, one day I will stack it again

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.

Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection.
