Description

The Heart NebulaIC 1805Sharpless 2-190, is some 7500 light years away from Earth and is located in the Perseus Arm of the galaxy in the constellation Cassiopeia. It was discovered by William Herschel on 3 November 1787. It is an emission nebula showing glowing ionized hydrogen gas and darker dust lanes. The brightest part of the nebula (a knot at its western edge) is separately classified as NGC 896, because it was the first part of the nebula to be discovered. The nebula's intense red output and its morphology are driven by the radiation emanating from a small group of stars near the nebula's center. This open cluster of stars, known as Collinder 26 or Melotte 15, contains a few bright stars nearly 50 times the mass of our Sun, and many more dim stars that are only a fraction of our Sun's mass.  [Source:  Wikipedia].

The image was captured with the iOptron CEM120 mount , the TMB80SS F6.3 Refractor coupled with an Orion Field Flattener , and my old Canon 450D XSi camera.

All subs were taken a ISO1600 and 300s each.  All were done at ambient temperature that varied between 26C and 31C.

IMAGE information -- 2021
Subs (ISO1600, 300s): 141 subs (11.75hr) on Sep 17th and 27th, and Oct 3rd.

Processing was done with PixInsight, following reasonably good practices I’ve developed over the years.

COMMENTS:
This is the least decent image done with my old trusty Canon 450D XSi even though there were close to 12 hours of integration time.  I'm posting it on Astrobin just for documentation.

My trusty Atik 383L+mono CCD camera is now officially lost.  As reported by Atik Portugal, the authorities attempted to deliver but could not due to Atik Portugal being on holiday.  Currently, I have no expectations that the camera will be returned to me.
