Description

A project many years in the making, and now over a month of processing. This was a collaborative project with Wei-Hao Wang, using his TOA-150 and 645z combined with the TOA-150 and 16200 that we have in Chile at DSW! I noticed we had a tiny gap between some nebulae in the LMC, and rather than try and fill those in, I collabing with Wei-Hao would be a much more fun and yield an equally great result!

The final image is 4 panels with the TOA-150 and 645z to supply the RGB data, nebulae have been filled it by the 16200 using Ha, L, R, G, and B!

I initially wanted to do the full LMC, but after weeks of trying to get the mosaic perfect and then blend my results in, I caved. Dealing with a ~30000x30000 image in PI is just not for me. Even with my beast of a processing machine, that final mosaic ground my computer to a halt if I just tried to do a screen stretch.

Thanks for looking, and huge thank you to Wei-Hao for making this pipe dream a reality!
