Description

Planetary nebula created by a binary star system in which both stars have thrown off their outer layers and collapsed into white dwarfs or neutron stars. Also called the Barbell Nebula.

This was kind of a bonus image. The forecast called for possible clouds, but it looked clear to me at the start of the evening, so I set up on this object and took a chance. It was clear all night. Not only that, but exceptional seeing. At least for my location. [I've had the telescope six months now and that night hasn't been beat.]

Color camera and Antlia Triband RGB Ultra filter. All images captured in one night.

The final image uses
75 (of 80) frames x 300s @ Gain 200 @ -10C = 6h 15m exposure time
