Description

The Canon 1100D was the first digital reflex camera I bought, with in mind to use it for astrophotography, too. I often thought about modifying it by removing the IR cut filter but for some unknow reason I left it in its case...Some days ago i opened the case and I saw that there was too much dust for a nice camera based on an APS-C sensor...  so i took my precision screwdriver kit and I started to disassemble it .

(A little tribute: Screwdriver, you were my first lovely toy since ever!)

In truth is not so hard for who has a little bit of experience in electronic parts and disassemble things; yet the error is still there, lurking and waiting to happen! I broke one of those little connectors for flat cables, but with some creativity i solved in my "rough" way, simply with a piece of plastic to lock the connector! Problem solved.

There is a lot of difference between pictures took with and without IR-Cut filter. H-Alpha emissions now are really more visible.
I did not remove the original LPF1 filter of 1100D, this because it is really useful for parasitic reflexes and for the ability to use the camera in daylight pictures.

The AdMCnC BM2020 mount perform like a charm! I discarded only 3 frames, but not for a mount issue. The absence of  backlash gives me the possibility to set an exposure time of 0,5 seconds for guide camera and this is really a game changer.

What to say about M33... A gorgeus galaxy. What a wonderful neighbor we have!
Are your neighbors as beautiful, too? I don't think so...

I have attached some pictures i was sending in real time to @Lorenzo Siciliano  while i did the mod!
