Description

Shooting deep sky objects from a heavily light polluted urban observatory presents challenges. Most objects, such as M16, are only available thru narrowband filters.

The observatory sits in the middle of an industrial park, with large malls, gas stations and auto dealerships close by in all directions. Sky is generally white to greyish, and only a few bright stars shine thru on the clearest of nights. Objects in narrowband, such as M16 can still be imaged:
