Description

Ngc 3359 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation of Ursa Major, about 50 - 60 million lightyears distant. The bar in this galaxy is quite young, approximately 500 milliion years.
The galaxy is devouring a blue compact galaxy, nicknamed The Little Cub. This metal poor galaxy is just about visible in this image, at some distance of ngc 3359.
