Description

I had really nice seeing in the short window before sunset for this UV capture of Venus. This shows the potential for my new camera the ZWO ASI 178MM, which as I mentioned before is very sensitive in UV and has small pixels to allow me to sample better and resolve finer detail. :-)  I am hoping that as the planet's apparent diameter increases, notwithstanding the reduction in illumination, I will be able to do even better than this latter in this evening apparition. In the meantime I was very happy to see this detail coming through.
Obviously the image was monochrome, but I have colourised it a little for aesthetic purposes. I hope you like that.
The beautiful chevron shape of the cloud formations on Venus, we see quite often, is very apparent here.
I have other good data in Violet RGB and IR, so will put together the false colour composites in due course.
In the meantime I felt there is something special about this lonely aspect of our twin planet, sitting on the other side of the Sun from us such that we can see much of its illuminated face.
