Description

I started this project with the purpose of catching the separation of Serpentis A & B and with M5 in the frame.
It seems to me that it's not a so common image to have both separations of this double star with the globular cluster.
Moreover I never shot before M5, and I shoot the globular clusters or the double stars very very seldom (almost never), so I had many interesting reasons to try.
It was difficult because it's quite low on the horizon and I have a strong light pollution (B8).

Unluckly I had a bigger problem than LP: my Asi294Mc Pro started to freeze the sensor, due to the need to change the humidity disseccant tablets.
The problem wasn't to change the tablets, but the fact that I had a broker head screw in the process. It lost the thread inside, becoming round, so it was impossible to unscrew with any tools!
I contacted many people, also the seller, but as far as it was a very specific mechanical problem I didn't get help. The main goal here was to unlock the screw without damaging the body of the camera itself.
In the end I found a smart guy in a mechanical workshop who was able to "bite" the head of the screw with a tool, and made it turn of a quarter. It was enough to unscrew then with usual tool and I got an happy end.

But, coming back to the image, I lost all the next nights for that, so here we have only one night and with many frames lost because of the frost.
I wanted to come here with a more nice image but this is what I got.
In the end, given all these problems, I'm quite happy with it, mainly because I was able also to separate Serpentis A & B (bottom right in the frame).

Thanks for watching!
