Description

One of my favourite southern nebula, along with the Dragons of Ara.  Variously referred to as the Swan, Omega, Checkmark and Horseshoe nebula.  Personally, I like the Game-of-Thrones inspired "Fire and Ice Nebula" because of the remarkable appearance in narrow band.     Whatever the name, it is a more distant, more side-on version of the Orion nebula.

In these parts, the weather this winter has not been good for either skiers or astrophotographers.  A harsh temperature inversion layer has settled in,  preventing snowmaking at the top of the mountain frustrating astrophotography at the bottom

Nevertheless between the foggy bands, I managed to collect a few hours over the two weeks, and I was pleasantly surprised by the results.  I had hoped for better weather to collect more Ha data, but it looks like the fog has settled in.  I will include a revision with more data when I collect it, but for now this serves as helpful benchmark for me.
