Description

The nebula is the consequence of a supernova explosion on July 4, 1054 that was observed by Chinese astronomers, its brightness was so great that it could be seen even during the day, for a total of 23 days and continue to see it for 653 days at night, Today the star has a magnitude of 16. What remains in the center of the nebula is a neutron star that rotates at a rate of 30 times per second and that gives rise to a pulsar, which launches out a lots of x-rays.
The nebula was discovered by John Bevis in 1731. Charles Messier found it independently on August 28, 1758, when he was looking for Halley's Comet on its first predicted return, and at first thought it was the comet, he soon recognized that it had no comet. apparent proper motion, and cataloged it on September 12, 1758 in the catalog that he began to compile as a result of this discovery.
