After finishing trick-or-treat with the kids, I had a clear night for the tick-or-treat dark angler fish nebula.

The RASA 8 ran all night and did not disappoint. I may revisit this data set in the future to bring out more of the fait gas surrounding the dark nebulae and clean up the two galaxies which lost some of the detail. I may also give a luminance trial a run with the 294 MM binned 2.3 um for better sampling with another new moon occurs.

The whole image composes most of molecular dust cloud of LBN 558. Located in the constellation of Cepheus near the similarly named Dark Shark. The incredibly intricate gas cloud is approximately 1,000 light years from Earth.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
