Description

Flaming Star Nebula, 4 panel mosaic LHaRGB

Both an emission and reflection nebula the Flaming Star nebula gets its blue/purple reflection characteristics from, AE Aurigae , the central star in the blue/purple region, has been traced back to the Orion Nebula -- tossed out 2 million years ago. It will pass through this hydrogen cloud in about 20,000 years. AE Aurigue is a main sequence blue star about 17 times the mass of the sun and 30,000 time brighter.
