Wiki - IC 443 is a galactic supernova remnant in the constellation Gemini. On the plane of the sky, it is located near the star Eta Geminorum. Its distance is roughly 5,000 light years from Earth. IC 443 may be the remains of a supernova that occurred 3,000 - 30,000 years ago.

I most likely over processed this image but I was going for a dramatic look. I used a combination of mostly SHO and a bit of ForaxX palette. If you're familiar with this SN remnant then you will notice that there is a missing star. Some of the yellow is blown out, I could start over and do some masked stretching but I am pretty happy with the image as it stands.

Version 'F'
It's been over a year since I processed the original version. I used new tools and techniques to re-process this iconic image. This final version used the ForaxX palatte. I tried SHO and HSO and I didn't like the outcome.
This one is best viewed full screen.

Version 'G'
I added more Ha, Oiii, Sii, Red, Green and Blue subs.
This one is 25% SHO and 75% ForaxX combined using PixelMath

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
