Description

SHO with RGB mouseover.

Last month I finally went up to Mt Pinos on a clear new moon.  I went after IC405 with my wide field rig (I love the ASKAR 300) and adjusted the FOV to also capture M38.   Kind of shocked by all the deep items we go after in this area...I didn't know they were all connected.   The Tads came out pretty good with this focal length of 299mm (Chandra X-ray Observatory suggests that Tads contain approximately 4,600 young stellar objects).  I was also surprised by this areas strong Oiii signal.  The Spider is visible but certainly needs more focal length.  I think there's a PN at 21:15 at left edge but it didn't plate solve.  I did drizzle at 1.3 to tighten up the detail causing the integrated masters to be over 500MBs.  But my new Apple M2 Studio Ultra 🤑 is a beast and a half and handled the heavy processing really well...didn't even get hot.  This is an SHO image with RGB stars.  Heavily processed using SPCC, BXT, NXT, SXT, Bill's Narrowband Normalization, GHS,  Bill's Screen Stars, masks, etc etc.  Really a lot of fun to process...many different tries.  It was really good to finally have some time for this avocation.  I'm pleased with this one.  Hope you enjoy and have some fun.  -john
