Description

The image you see here is the result of a 5-hour exposure of M63, the Sunflower Galaxy. The photo was captured using a ZWO ASI2600MC camera without any filter using 180s subs. Located in the constellation Canes Venatici, M63 is a stunning spiral galaxy approximately 27 million light-years away from Earth. It has a diameter of about 100,000 light-years and a mass estimated to be 1 trillion times that of our sun. The galaxy's spiral arms are a prominent feature in this photo, displaying a range of bright star-forming regions, dust lanes, and gas clouds.

I have been having some issues with my guiding and, being a clear night with good seeing last night, I wanted to see if any (or all) of my previous experiences could be chalked down to seeing. Indeed, while I still had the occasional blips due to DEC backlash and poor PA (I am 18 mins off!!), guiding stayed under 0.65" RMS all night - quite impressive if I may say so! Since it was mostly good, I let imaging run all night. This is the result of choosing 80% best subs from the 5h collection.

Kindly provide C&C and let me know what you think of the image.

Clear skies!
