Target Description:
The Wikipedia article on the NGC 2244 cluster notes an apparent juxtaposition of Brown Dwarf stars to OB (young, massive, and producing high stellar winds and intense UV). The article suggests that the OB stars may be responsible for the BD stars by removing their outer gases ("photoerosion") and inhibiting their early growth. However, (1) analyzed the BD abundances in a pair of star clusters, one with abundant OB stars and one with less abundant OB stars, and found "no clear evidence for variations in the formation efficiency of BDs and very low-mass stars due to the lack or presence of OB stars." Remarkable: Make a hypothesis…test it…if it fails, reject it every time." Sounds kinda like someone did science!

Processing Description:
After compensating for the continuum spectrum by modeling the filters ' properties, the posted Image shows the narrowband colors (approximately matching the wavelengths of the narrowband filters). The stars are lifted from a separately process RGB image and transferred to this Image by alpha-compositing to minimize the otherwise inevitable color distortions arising when "restarring" a processed image.

Statistics:
Distance: 5.2K ly
Apparent Magnitude: 4.8
Average Surface Magnitude: 20
Apparent Span: Beyond Image (24 arc-minutes total)
Pixel Span at Target: 9B km
