Description

Summer is coming

I spent 4 hours on the heart of Cygnus, also called the Northern Cross, between Sadr and Eta Cygni, with the Sigma Art 135mm f/1.8 and the STC Astro Duo-Narrowband.

This is really a rich region, being on the galactic disk. The Butterfly Nebula (IC 1318) is really impressive, particularly on a starless version : almost Dante inferno...

Of course we can see the Crescent and the Tulip nebulas, as well as many small objects that are calling for longer focal length :-).

It also helps me measure the progress made since this first shot 2 years ago, with the small refractor of my daughter and an old T adapter that I used when shooting Jupiter and Saturn with a non motorized Meade Newton 20+ years ago, with a Minolta and some Kodak or Ilford films.... : https://astrob.in/cc4fmc/0/

Last but not least a global view of Cygnus in the Milky Way, from last summer... : https://astrob.in/0ibc4e/0/
