Description

The Double Cluster in Perseus - NGC884 (top) and NGC869 (bottom).
Two open clusters about 7.6K LY away, 14 million years old.
Naked eye visible as a grey smudge and sparkly in binoculars.

I imaged this with a 61mm scope a couple of years ago and included lots of Ha (too much), so this go-round with the 102mm scope I captured no Ha subs. Since there seems to be such abundant surrounding Ha, the broadband 6nm red filter picked up sufficient Ha, that I opted to include some of the red ‘continuum’. The dull brick red helps to offset the image's old red and younger bright blue giants.

Imaged over two windy evenings, omitted a number of subs due to gusts. The fact that round stars are still possible is in large part due to the quality of the processing software.
