Description

The Rho Ophiuchi Cloud is a giant molecular cloud composed partly of bright ionized hydrogen and largely of dark dust; it owes its name to the star that dominates the region in which it is located, ρ Ophiuchi, located three degrees north of Antares, in the constellation Ophiuchus. With an average distance of just 420 light-years, it is one of the closest star-forming regions to the solar system; it belongs to the same galactic environment as the Scorpius-Centaurus association, from whose perturbations originated the initial compression which started the star formation processes inside it. Morphologically it appears divided into two main clouds, indicated with the abbreviations LDN 1688, which constitutes the major nucleus, and LDN 1689, with a lower mass; several dark nebulous filaments are connected to both clouds.  Constellation: Ophiuchus Right Ascension: 16h 28m 06s Declination : −24° 32′ 30″[1] Distance :390-460 a.l.  This magnificent field was taken by the amateur astronomer Patrizia Mazzucato with her askar 180mm ... Really a great piece to take into consideration in your setup. Congratulations on your shot because this part of the sky is difficult to shoot from its relatively low height in the sky to escape any kind of pollution.  It gave me the possibility of elaborating it and adopting my elaboration method on this field surrounded by dark dust and ionized gas.  Technical data:  Askar fma180 Asi 294mc Pro L Pro 155*60" Heq5, Ts Owl90 and Asi 224mc (guide) 26/4/2023 Refrontolo
