Description

My second dedicated project with my new mono setup.
November and December proved very challenging in acquiring data to say the least.

The Oiii channel suffered the most from my non-ideal conditions (blasting Moon). Even though I collected over 8hours of data, there is still a lot of noise. This target needs much more data. I will add this during the next months or next year in winter.

I decided against a full SHO palette for this target. I like the Jellyfish more in a bicolor palette (especially HOO). Gathering additional Sii data would have prolonged this project even more.
With the Jellyfish residing in close vicinity to the moon currently, I had to deal with strong gradients as well an entire session lost to internal reflection caused by the Moon. Unfortunately, I noticed it only after the entire shooting session.

Processing this noisy data had me bring all of my knowledge to the table. I went through several entire processing iterations and it took me several days of processing to finally achieve a noise level I was able to accept. In the end, I happy with what I was able to pull from the data. I'm really looking forward to add more quality data (new moon) to it once the occasion is there.

Even though the image is at 1.8arcsec/px, I used 2x drizzle to gain increased size for printing. Little did I know then that I will need a lot more data to get a print worthy outcome.
