Hello Friends,this time one of the rarest imaged objects ever seen: WeBo1
There are very view dedicated images of it and if there are images, they do not show the O3 component and only focus on Ha. Also almost all dedicated images taken of it are achieved with professional scope in the 1m class.
Object information:This object was first noticed by Ronals F. Webbink 1995 when searching radio sources. Later it was optically reviewed by Howard E. Bond at the 0.9m Kitt Peak National Observatory. The elliptic ring has an expansion of 64" x 22" surrounding an 14m bright star, which has a distance of 5134+-183 ly. Before this dedicated analysis, this object was considered to be galaxy. The central star is actually a double star system. One is a K0 red giant - a Barium star - which absorbs giant amounts of Barium which was ejected by its partner (actually the complete outer shell).
Data collection:This is yet another chapter in "how to torture myself". First I thought: "Well, a nice tiny thingy to image - should not be a big deal, since you will find it on many images of the Heart Nebula as by-catch". I could not have been wronger. This thing is a real tedious little beast. Even after 3 hours NB data I had almost no signal. I had to take advantage of more than 7 clear nights to gather the data. For better assessment I have added an overview and also the raw stack of the Ha and O3 channel. I think this illustrates very quickly, how sophisticated that project was.
In the end, I am quite satisfied with the result. Definitely hard at the limits of my equipment and location - but worth it. Not many have it in their catalogue.
