Description

My vision of the Orion Nebula has not been accomplished in this version. My objectives were to not blow out core, emphasize the small details, emphasize the dust that surrounds the nebula, show good star quality and finally to keep the saturation at a reasonable level. I really have failed as shown.
The two sets of data I have to work with are 100 x (5sec) and 50 x (30sec) exposures.

This version of the Orion Nebula has been extremely difficult for me to process and was my second capturing session using the C/8 with Starizona HyperStar.
The first problem I encountered was the small core blowout with the 100 x (5 sec) exposures @ 125 gain with the 294mcp. Hard to believe but at f1.8 the HyperStar is a serious light gathering canon. The blowout is small but none the less unwanted.

The second issue is the classic blue crest as seen on a majority of Orion photos is grey.  This is probably due to the moon brightness of 41% washing out the blue channel.

After several attempts I've seemed to come up with a fat goose egg on with my stated goals. When I posted this version, I had been working it for several hrs. and I believe I should have waited and revisited with fresh eyes before publishing.

This has been a really good learning lesson for me. The data was taken a couple years ago and since then through trial, error and research I have a better understanding how important data acquisition is. Good data acquisition will stand the test of time as my processing techniques continue to evolve.
