Description

Well, this image was a real pill. It started with a fail on my part to get a guide star on the sensor at the rotation angle I selected. It seems there are a few rotator settings where the predicted star position doesn't fall on the chip. I think this means my rotator is slightly off center and getting it exactly on center is a real challenge. Anyway, I only had a couple of nights before travel and didn't have time to select a new guide star so I just went with unguided subs. Yield wasn't great, but I got usable data. Then, I found that there are very few stars that are in this frame for spectrophotometric color calibration and I just could not get acceptable true color white balance from any calibration I tried. So I just went with it because there are some nice resolved details. Anyway, it was a lesson demonstrating when things are not 100% right, you can still have some processing fun with an image.
