Supernova SN 2023ixf in the Pinwheel Galaxy (M101)

The supernova SN 2023ixf was discovered on May 19, 2023 by Kōichi Itagaki. The object is located in the Pinwheel galaxy (M101) close to the bright Ha region (NGC 5461).
More information about the type II supernova is in the paper Dyk, Schuyler D. Van et al. “The SN 2023ixf Progenitor in M101: II. Properties.” (2023), submitted to AAS Journals.

The images were taken at my home backyard observatory in the red, green, blue channel. Ha filter was used for imaging Ha regions in the M101 galaxy . I have used William Fluorostar 132 telescope, ZWO ASI 2600 camera and Skywatcher EQ 6 mount. mages were processed in the Pixinisight using BlurXTerminator, NoiseXTerminator and artificial luminance channel. Final stretching was done by GeneralizedHyperpbolicStretch.

Compare image of the same galaxy 2 month before the first observation of the supernova (March 31, 2023, William Optics ZenithStar 81, ZWO ASI 2600) - the same backyard observatory.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
