Description

I imaged these two star clusters while testing the new Askar V a few weeks back during the last new moon of April, I was not only very happy with the results of this new adjustable refractor, but what my very dark Bortle 2 skies brought out between them – the elusive IFN!

The IFN is noted as "high galactic latitude nebulae that are illuminated not by a single star (as most nebula in the plane of the Galaxy are) but by the energy from the integrated flux of all the stars in the Milky Way. As a result, these nebulae are incredibly faint, taking hours of exposure to capture. These nebulae clouds, an important component of the interstellar medium, are composed of dust particles, hydrogen and carbon monoxide and other elements.

Also note the very faint galaxies seen in the distance beyond magnitude 18. Many of them I am having difficulty referencing.

I've researched the past few days hoping to find the IFN around this area of sky, but have not. Perhaps this is a first? 😎
