Description

It is now for almost 20 years that I tried to take a deep and well resolved picture of this fantastic galaxy cluster.  Bad weather, wind and other obstacles got in my way so this is only the second acceptable portrait (see the first one here as part of my earlier portrait together with NGC 7331) and the first really deep one. See that interestingly enough, this picture gets by far deeper than the first one which was taken from the same spot with the 6-inch-APO and a QHY268M despite being slightly shorter in exposure time.

Stephan's Quintett is a cluster of five galaxies (NGC 7317, NGC 7318A, NGC 7318B, NGC 7318C, NGC 7319 and NGC 7320C) in about 300 MLy distance. Surprisingly, NGC 7320 is obviously not physically linked to that group but stand much closer to Earth in a distance of around 45 MLy, hence probably being a member of NGC 7331 group.
