Description

The Medusa Nebula is a supernova remnant in the constellation Gemini.
It is estimated to be at a distance of about 5,000 light-years from Earth and has a size of about 70 light-years.

It is usually photographed with medium or short focal lengths to also frame nearby Sharpless 249.
With the 2000mm focal length of this image, the filaments and details of the dark nebulae silhouetted in front of Medusa are well appreciated.

The shots were taken with narrow-band filters, and processd in SHO.
The first night 320min of Ha, the second 210min of O3 and 180min of S2.
