Description

A HαORGB composite image of M1.

The crab nebula represents the most famous remnant of the brightest SN in 1054, located in the constellation of Taurus. More precisely, the emission is powered by the central pulsar forming a so called pulsar wind nebula.

It comprises continuum radiation as well as emission lines. Therefore, continuum and narrow band filters provide clearly complementary information.
