Description

About 3500 light years distant, IC 5146 is an emission and reflection nebula within a star forming molecular cloud.   The cloud itself spans over 2 degrees of sky, and is thought to be about 15 light years wide.  The brightest central star is blowing a hole in the cloud, and pressuring other star forming activity in close proximity.

In this view, I've captured a bit over 3 hours @ f/2.2.    The TAAA CAC site has Bortle 1-2 skies in southern AZ.   I captured a minor portion of the data last year at home, and the majority of the data this September and October at CAC.   All told, there are 405 exposures of 30 secs.    Seeing wasn't great, but acceptable (avg=3.14).
